Keele University: UCAT score& entry requirements

Keele runs a five-year MBChB with a community- and primary-care focus and a strong support reputation. It's one of the few schools to publish a clear UCAT floor: score below it, or land SJT Band 4, and you're out — above it, your UCAT and personal statement are scored together to rank you for interview.

In short
  • A UCAT below roughly 1700, or an SJT in Band 4, won't be considered (home applicants).
  • Above the floor, UCAT and personal statement combine into a score out of 25 for shortlisting.
  • Verbal Reasoning is the tie-breaker if applicants are level.
  • Standard offer is A*AA (or AAA with an EPQ); interviews are MMIs.

How Keele uses the UCAT

Keele is unusually transparent: a total UCAT below about 1700, or an SJT in Band 4, means you won't be considered (the international floor is higher, around 1950). Clear the bar and your UCAT grade is combined with a graded personal statement into a total out of 25, which ranks applicants for interview. If two applicants tie, your Verbal Reasoning score breaks it — so VR is quietly important here.

Is your score competitive here?

Keele rewards clearing its floor comfortably and writing a strong personal statement, since the two are scored together. If your UCAT is around or below 1700 it's not the school for you, but a mid-to-high score plus a sharp statement makes you very competitive — and don't neglect Verbal Reasoning, the tie-breaker.
